Bob Feller of the Cleveland Indians throws the only Opening Day no-hitter in MLB history

Opening day in Major League Baseball is an exciting time.  Each team starts out tied for first place, and baseball fans across the country get excited about what could be.  And sometimes, on opening day, a team or player does something special, and starts out the season on an awesome note.

It was on this day, April 16th, 1940, that Bob Feller threw the only opening day no-hitter in Major League Baseball History.  Feller did it for the Cleveland Indians in a game against the Chicago White Sox.

6 years later, Feller would throw another no-hitter against the Yankees at Yankee Stadium.  Feller always said that this no-hitter was more special to him, as he had to get the great Joe DiMaggio out in the 9th inning to complete the game.
