Chase National Bank opens in New York City – would eventually become one of the world’s largest banks

Chase Tower, the business headquarters in Chicago, Illinois, was constructed from 1964 to 1969, but it wasn’t right after the company’s inception that it began to flourish.

On September 20th 1877, Chase National Bank opens in New York City and it would eventually become one of the world’s largest banks. The bank is named after the United States Treasury Secretary, Salmon P. Chase, because he contributed to the establishment of a national banking system.

Chase grew into the company it now is because it associated itself with many big name companies and is involved with the oil industry. This company has been prominent for over a century and seems to continue going along the same path.
