Every home is technically required to have an emergency kit incase emergencies may occur. These kits normally consist of water, band-aids, nonperishable food, and a flashlight. The flashlight is an important factor because once electricity is out and one is in darkness the flashlight is the only source of light one has.

On August 26th 1902, Conrad Hubert is awarded patent number 737,107 – for a flashlight with an on/off switch. The flashlight was not developed sooner because it was based on the development of other inventions such as the electric light bulb and the electric battery.

Conrad Hubert just had to place these inventions together to create his own and to write his name in flashlight history.
