Eddie Murray becomes the second switch hitter to reach 3,000 hits

The switch hitter is an interesting weapon in Baseball.  While most batters hit from the left or right side, a few can hit from either side.  These switch hitters use this as an advantage when matching up against major league pitchers.

It was on this day, June 30th, 1995, that Eddie Murray became the second switch hitter in MLB history to reach 3,000 hits.  Murray single off of Minnesota Twins pitcher Mike Trombley.

Murray joined the one and only Pete Rose as the second switch hitter to reach the 3,000 hit club.  Eddie Murray would finish his hall of fame career with 3,255 hits 504 home runs.  Murray is also the all-time career RBIs leader amongst switch hitters.  Eddie was one of the greatest hitters ever, and the record books are quite indicative of this.
