Elton John honored at Madison Square Garden Hall of Fame, w/ record appearances

Elton John is an English rock singer-songwriter, composer, pianist and occasional actor.  He is one of the most successful artists of all time, having sold more than 250 million records in his four-decade career.

On this day, October 1, in 1977, The Madison Square Garden Hall of Fame inducts its first musician, singer and songwriter, Elton John.  He was also the first non-athlete to be honored there. He set the all-time record for most appearances at The Garden, with 62 shows.  In fact, he had his 60th show there on his 60th birthday (March 25, 2007).  He states that he chose to have his 60th birthday concert there because it’s the best venue in the whole world and because of all of the memories he’s had there.
