First 3-D television telecast

Seeing a current film in 3-D will cost quite a bit more than seeing a movie in traditional 2-D. Despite the additional cost, 3-D films have become more and more popular throughout the 2000s.

On this day, April 29th, in 1953, the first U.S. three-dimensional television telecast was made by KECA-TV in Los Angeles, California.

The novel 3-D technology was used first in a 30-minute episode of Space Control. The show was already breaking conventions as the first regular live West Coast morning network program to be broadcast on the East Coast as well. As one of the nation’s first mass media programs, Space Control produced 220 episodes.
