The first Chevrolet Corvette is completed – the Corvette would become one of Chevrolet’s most well-known models

General Motor’s Chevrolet, or Chevy, brand was set up to sell mainstream vehicles in competition with Henry Ford’s Model T. Chevrolet, Ford, and Plymouth were regarded in the 1920s as the affordable, “low-priced three.”

It was on this day, June 30th, in 1953 that the first Chevrolet Corvette was completed. The Corvette went on to become one of Chevrolet’s most well known models.

Harley Earl designed the first Corvette, a convertible model, as a concept show car. It took its name from a kind of small warship. The Corvette car is now the official sports car for the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
