Halle Berry becomes the first African-American woman to ever win an Oscar award for best actress in a leading role

Halle Berry began with a modeling career in the 80’s and began breaking barriers as soon as she started. She was the first African-American Miss World Entrant to represent the United States in 1986. This would not be the only barrier Halle Berry would be breaking her success would develop into other areas of interest such as acting.

On March 24th 2002, Halle Berry became the first African-American woman to ever win an Oscar award for best actress in a leading role. Her role in Monster’s Ball proved to be worthy and with that she broke yet another barrier. Being the first African- American women to accomplish something seems to be her forte.

Till this date Halle Berry remains the only African-American women to ever win an Oscar for best actress in a leading role leaving big shoes to fill for the next person to fill.
