Hank Aaron hits the final home run of his career when he hits number 755 at Milwaukee Stadium

Henry Hank Aaron was one of the great sluggers the game has ever had.  Not only could he hit the long ball – he did it consistently year in and year out.  And that consistency paid off as Hank broke a record that many thought would never be broken.

It was on this day, July 20th, 1976, that Hank Aaron hit his final home run and set the Major League Baseball home run record.  Crushing his 755th home run in front of a home crowd at Milwaukee’s County Stadium, Hank hit his final round tripper.  Hank had passed Babe Ruth’s record when he hit his 715th homerun in April of 1974.

Hank’s record stood for 31 years until Barry Bonds hit his 756th home run in August of 2007.  Bonds of course, was involved in a lot of drama concerning his rumored Steroid use, causing many to question if Bonds fairly broke Hank’s record.  Regardless, Hank Aaron is still today considered one of the greatest home run records of all-time and many people still marvel at how great of a person Hank was off the field.
