Katherine Hepburn and Barbra Streisand tie for Best Actress Oscar

On this day, April 14th, in 1969, the live broadcast of the 41st annual Academy Awards Ceremony announced its first tie, for the Best Actress category, in three decades. This was the first Oscar ceremony to be televised worldwide and the first to be held in the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion of the Los Angeles Music Center. This momentous occasion recognized Katherine Hepburn for her role in the Lion in the Winter and Barbra Streisand for her role in Funny Girl. Hepburn was a no-show on April 14th leaving Streisand to own the stage and accept her golden Oscar.
