The Howard Stern Radio Show premieres on WNCX 98.5 FM in Cleveland Ohio

Radio personality Howard Stern grew in popularity in the 1990s as a nationally syndicated terrestrial radio program. At its peak, Stern broadcast to over 20 million listeners. The New York show was the highest-rated morning program for seven years between 1994 and 2001.

It was on this day, August 31st, in 1992 that the Howard Stern Radio Show premiered in Cleveland, Ohio on WNCX 98.5 FM.

Stern considers himself “King of All Media” because of his wide variety of influence. He has hosted late night television shows, pay-per-view events, and political campaigns.  In addition to his radio shows, Stern has also written two books that have both reached the New York Times Best Seller list.
