The Intel Corporation is founded and incorporated in Santa Clara, California

Intel Corporation is an American multinational semiconductor chipmaker. Based on revenue, it is the world’s largest and highest valued semiconductor chipmaker. Intel also makes motherboard chipsets, network interface controllers and integrated circuits, flash memory, graphic chips, embedded processors, and other devices pertaining to computing and communications. Only engineers and technologists knew the company originally, however, Intel became better known to the general public.
On this day, July 18th, in 1968, Intel Corporation was founded in Santa Clara, CA. The name of the company comes from the first part of the words Integrated Electronics, despite the common misconception that Intel is derived from Intelligence. Semiconductor pioneers, Robert Noyce and Gordon Moore and visionary, Andrew Grove, founded the company.
They initially profited from only their SRAM and DRAM memory chips, however in 1971, Intel created the world’s first commercial microprocessor chip in 1971. Once PCs came to be more popular, this microprocessor became its primary source of revenue.
