Wayne Gretzky Youngest to 1000 Points

Wayne Gretzky has won more awards and broken more records in hockey than any player probably ever will again.  Gretzky played some of the best hockey the NHL had ever seen as soon as he entered the league in 1979, breaking records for rookie point totals, as well as single season goals, assists and points.  Gretzky was the first player to ever break the 200 point single-season mark in his 1982 season.

On this day, December 19th, in 1984, Wayne Gretzky became the youngest player to score 1,000 points at age 23.  Gretzky was able to reach 1,000 points after only five years in the NHL. Hi’s record was well-deserved, as he had broken his own assist record the previous two years.

By the end of his career, Gretzky almost tripped his point total from 1984, ending with an NHL record 2,857 points.
